November 30, 2002 - at the "Riot at the Hyatt" in Monterey, California
Mikee Stafford, 136,d won a four-round unanimous decision over Nicole Beard, 134. There were no knockdowns in the scheduled four-rounder. Final scoring was 40-36, 39-37, 39-37. Photo by Rick Horner. 

November 30, 2002 -  in Puerto Colombia, a town at the Colombian North Coast
Ana Pascal, 139, from Panama won by unanimous decision in a rematch  against the local fighter Darys Pardo, 138,  in an eight-rounder.  This fight was the main event and was shown live on television by the local channel TeleBarranquilla.  The fight had great national coverage and curiously two days before it, two important T.V. programs had interviews with both fighters by using its full time (half hour) on colombian national T.V. at the same time by the two most important national Television channels Caracol and RCN. 

November 29, 2002 - Grosseto, Italy
Maria Rosa Tabbuso  won a 10-round decision by points over Viktoria Milo for the vacant European Super Flyweight Title.

November 23, 2002 - Wild Wings Club, Ft. Smith, Arkansas
Melissa Shaffer won a four-round unanimous decision over Nikki Verbeck. Also, featherweights Joy Irvin, 125,  TKO1 Kendra Davis, 125. 

November 22, 2002 - Savannah, Georgia 
At the Savannah Civic Center, Chevelle Hallback, IBA World Champion, has had another inferior, inept boxing match with now,  Willicia Moorehead who fights out of Wisconsin. Hallback KO'd Moorehead in the first round (big surprise? not...)  And WBAN will comment again, as it did with Hallback's last MISMATCH against Vanessa Pine…BIG Disappointment with a boxer as talented as Hallback, who has now had two mismatches in a row.  Moorehead is now 2-10.

November 22, 2002 -Palace Indian Gaming Center, Lemoore, California
Jessica Rakoczy, 135,  stopped Cheryl Nance, 135,  :51 seconds of the fourth round in a scheduled six-round Lightweight bout.

Silvia León defeated Yelena Pustavoi by KO in the first round.

November 22, 2002 -Guam University Field House, in Agana, Guam
Anissa Zamarron of Austin, Texas, became the new  WIBA Intercontinental Light-Flyweight champion after she stopped Yvonne Caples in the fifth round. It was reported that Caples received a cut in the fifth round. 

November 21, 2002 – Argosy Atrium, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Featherweights Trisha Hill stopped (TKO3) Isabel Manyseng in the third round.

November 21, 2002 - Days Inn, Allentown, Pennsylvania
Lisa "Too Fierce" Foster won a four-round unanimous decision over Shakurah Witherspoon.  

November 21, 2002 - Radission Hotel - Houston, Texas
Gracie Olivarez, Houston, Texas won a four-round unanimous decision over Carol Harris, San Antonio, Texas, in a junior bantamweight division.  Olivarez moved her record to 3-1-1 (1KO), and Harris is 0-2-0. 

November 20, 2002 - Kansas City, Missouri
Delia "Chikita" Gonzalez fought hometowner' Mary Ortega. The fight was to be a 10-rounder for the WIBA America's Continental belt.  The weight was set to be 115 lbs---Ortega came in at 118 lbs., and then 117 lbs and did not make weight. Ortega won by a unanimous decision.  Team Gonzalez's Statement about this fight 

November 19, 2002 Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona (Report by Dale Hausner)
Elena "Baby Doll" Reid remained in the title hunt with a six-round unanimous decision over Lakeysha 'The Total Package' Williams. For six rounds, the warriors traded hard shots and had the crowd on it's feet for most of the fight. Elena used slick head movement and side to side movement to frustrate Williams. Reid weighed in at 117 and Williams was 119 pounds. The scores were 60-54 and 58-56 twice. Reid is now 12-1-2 (4) KO's and Williams is 6-4-1 (1) KO. Elena is rated # 1 in the world at Bantamweight. The promoter was Emanuel Steward and Elena Reid made an appearance to the after fight party and looked as good as before the fight. Steward was signing autographs all night at the fight and the party. He is as popular as the fighters. Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns and Milton "The Iceman" McCrory flew in to see the fight. Dale S. November 17, 2002 - Silver City Club, Silver City, Texas
Melissa Ayanas made it a short night when she TKO'd Star Holmes in the first round in a scheduled four-round 135-lb. lightweight bout. JollyDee 

November 16, 2002 - Pacific Sports Center, Mare Island in Vallejo, California
In the battle of the heavyweights, Martha Salazar kept her undefeated record, at now 5-0-0, when she defeated tough-hitting boxer Kisha Snow. now 6-2-0 (3KO), in a four-round unanimous decision. 6 rounds of nonstop action. WBAN's Inside reporter, said that Martha and Kisha had the crowd standing and cheering in the first round.  Kisha had come out swinging and giving it everything she had, but Martha answered back with the same---Body shots, headshots, uppercuts and combos. In the second, round, Kisha came out with the same game plan.  And Martha answered back. From the 3rd round on Martha was in complete domination of the fight. In the fifth round, Martha had Kisha up against the rope and Kisha was hurt. The referee asked Kisha if she wanted to keep going and Kisha said that she did. In the 6th round, both Martha and Kisha gave their all, and were non-stop throwing a barrage of combinations.  At the end of the fight, the crowd,  hailed and applauded and it was the best fight of the night.  WBAN's Insider said, "Martha Salazar is one of the most humble, and Snow is one of the nicest boxers.  They are great role models and great representation of women's boxers.  Too bad this fight was not televised."  

November 16, 2002 - Yongsan's Capital Hotel, Seoul, South Korea
In what has been billed as the "First" Korean Boxing Championship (KBC) flyweight title, 30-year old Lee In-young, now 4-0-0 (2KO) won the title over 17-year-old Kim Ju-hee, now 2-1-1, (1KO) by a fourth round knockout.   In the Korea Times, they reported, "Both boxers came out brawling with the opening bell, and kept up the frenetic pace throughout the round. High schooler Kim, however, started to stumble in the third round and finally crumpled into a heap on the mat after Lee connected with a right hook to the head at 1:20 into the fourth round. With Kim unable to beat the count, Lee had her belt and her place in the history books as the first Korean queen of the ring."  Lee said of the fight, "I am so happy now to win the match and the title. I think my better stamina paid off for today’s victory. I will continue to improve my skills to fight well at the international level."

November 15, 2002 - American Airlines Arena, in Miami, Florida
Patricia Martinez, 110.5, defeated San Antonio’s 24 year-old Maribel Zurita, 110.5,4-3-1 with a six-round unanimous decision.  Martinez took advantage of her long reach to outpunch and dominate Zurita. All three judges had it 40-36.

November 16, 2002 - Super Domo Orfeo, Cordoba, Argentina
United States boxer, Alicia Ashley, 120 3/4, defeated Argentina's Marcela Acúna, 120.5, in a  split decision in a  10-rounder for the WIBF Super-Bantamweight title. Judges scoring was 96-94(USA judge) and  for Ashley, 96-94 (Argentina judge) for Ashley, amd 97-95 (Argentina judge)  for Acuña.

November 14, 2002 - Rose Garden, Portland, Oregon promoted by Golden Boy Promotions
In front of 2,769 boxing fans, in the semi-main event and women's bout of the night, and one of the best fights of the night, Para Draine, 115, 8-5-0 (3KO), Spokane, Washington, defeated Bridgett "Baby Doll" Riley, 115, 13-3 (1KO), Hollywood, California, with a six-round unanimous decision with final scoring of 60-54, 59-55, and 59-55, in a six-round IFBA Championship Elimination match. Draine and Riley fought six non-stop rounds with action-packed exchanges throughout the fight. Draine told WBAN after the fight that Riley was a "real champ"  in how she stayed in there and fought and took the body shots that she was throwing.  

November 14, 2002 - St. Charles, Missouri, Promoted by Midwest Boxing
Liz Drew, 132, won a four-round unanimous decision over Gina Greenwald, 130, in a scheduled junior lightweight bout.
November 14, 2002, RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina
Bonnie Mann, Morrisville, North Carolina, won a four-round unanimous decision over Linda Guedalia, Pittsboro, North Carolina in a middleweight bout. Mann won her first professional bout and is now 1-3-0. Guedalia is now 0-2-0.

November 9, 2002 - West Palm Beach, Florida
At the South Florida Fairgrounds, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Ada "The Ace" Velez won a 124 lb. six-rounder with a TKO in the fourth round over Atlanta's Rolanda Andrews. WBAN’s Inside reporter said that in the first round, Ada came out and felt Rolanda abilities and finished strong in the last 30 second of the first round to win on the judges scorecard. In the second round, Ada preceded to keep a fast and relentless pace and worked Rolanda’s body. In the third round, Ada came out again with a fast pace and almost stopped Rolanda with hooks and an uppercut to the chin---Rolanda grabbed and held, but Ada did not grab back and she worked her punches in close. In the fourth round, Ada resumed the aggression with a barrage of combinations throwing them at all angles, Rolanda did not answer back, and took many hard punches from Ada. The Referee jumped in and stopped the bout. Ada and Rolanda’s fight was of the most exciting fights on the card. The fight was taped and will be aired on TV in two weeks.  In a second women’s match, Brenda Vickers faced Brenda Bell-Drexel in a 130-lb six-round bout, where the fight went to the score cards. According to WBAN’s insider reporter, Drexel-Bell kept the action forward on to Vickers, and Vickers backed up and used her reach to score her punches. Vickers won by a unanimous decision. These two bouts were qualifiers for the WIBO World Title fights in January 2003. 

November 9, 2002 - Vösendorf, Austria
Promoted by Peter M. Pospichal, at the Trend Event Hotel Pyramid, in Vösendorf, Austria, Bettina Csabi, 52,4 kg, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Monika Petrova, 52,3 kg, in a 10-round Austrian International Bantamweight Title; Diana Szilagyi, 51,1 kg, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Galina Ivanova, 51.0 kg, for the 10-round Austrian International Super-Flyweight Title; and Esther Schouten, 55,2 kg, won a 10 round unanimous decision over United States boxer, Leona "Downtown" Brown, 54,9 kg, in a 10-round WIBF Super- Bantamweight Title.   JollyDee

In a flyweight bout, Viktoria Varga, of Hungary, had a four-round draw with Hagar Shmuelfeld, of Israel. 

November 9, 2002 - Curacao
Giselle Salandy won an eight-round title bout over Paola Rojas, of Colombia, capturing the WIBA Iberian American 140 lb. vacant title. Also,  Iva Kletson from Trinidad won a six-rounder over Yolys Marrugo from Colombia in the Super Lightweight division.   

November 9, 2002 - Brigham City, Utah - Amateurs
Heather May won a decision over Echo McKary. McKary was 3-1 going into the fight.

November 9, 2002 - Coca-Cola Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Crystal Bolles won a four-round unanimous decision over Dorothy Faas, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

November 9, 2002 - Ignacio, Colorado
At the Sky Ute Casino, in Ignacio, Colorado, Russian Olga Vlasova, became the new IFBA Lightweight World Champion, when she defeated Sandy "The Shark" Yard who was defending her title.

November 8, 2002 - Las Vegas, Nevada-ESPN2
At the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas, Laila "She Bee-Stingin" Ali, 167, stung "the Wolfe" Valerie Mahfood, 161.5...televised on ESPN2, Ali stopped Mahfood in the 1:14 seconds of the eighth round, and winning the IBA, WIBA, and the IWBF World Title belts! Crystal Hoy, 125, had a four-round draw with Lisa Pederson. 

November 8, 2002 - Salt Lake City, Utah
Kelly Whaley made her return to boxing after announcing her retirement last year, and she won a four-round unanimous decision over Jaime Day.  According to WBAN's insider, Day took some big shots from Whaley, but stayed on her feet as Whaley dominated the fight. On this same card, former Amateur champion Blanca Luna won a unanimous decision over Jennifer Howe, a former 7-0 NHB fighter.  

November 8, 2002 - Laughlin, Nevada
At the Edgewater, 27-year-old Tracey Stevens, 105, won a four-round unanimous decision over Stephanie Dobbs, 107.5.  Stevens knocked Dobbs down in the second round, with Dobbs taking an eight count.  Final judges scoring was 40-35 on all cards.   I spoke to Stevens after the fight. Stevens said that she felt very good after the fight with Dobbs.  Stevens said that she has been professionally boxing since 1998, but that she had a long layoff, and came back to fight Mary Duron.  Stevens said that prior to becoming a pro boxer, she spent four years as an amateur boxer.

November 8, 2002 - Cowtown Coliseum, Fort Worth, Texas
Rita Serrano won a four-round decision over Martha Flores in a light-welterweight bout.

November 8, 2002 - Johnstown, Colorado
Marsha Budde, Denver, Colorado TKO2 Sher Noah, in a scheduled four-rounder Junior Lightweight bout.

November 7, 2002 - Bakersfield, California
In a packed house  at the Centennial Gardens, of over 4,500 boxing fans, on a Golden Boy Promotions,  Kelsey Jeffries won a 10-round unanimous decision over Layla McCarter for the IFBA World Featherweight Championship!  According to WBAN Insider reporter, Jeffries took the fight to McCarter, and was affective with her body shots.  There were no knockdowns.  Julio Cesar Chavez and Oscar De La Hoya were seated ringside.  Final scoring by judges was 99-92, 99-90, and 97-93.

November 7, 2002 - Chase Towers, Dallas, Texas
Michele Nielsen, Houston, Texas won a four-round unanimous decision over long time veteran Shakurah Witherspoon, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Nielsen improved her record to 7-3-1 (2KO), and Witherspoon makes history for having the most losses in women's boxing with a 9-31-1 (4KO).

November 7, 2002 - Pontchartrain Center, New Orleans, Louisiana
Lanie Ellis, 135, won a four-round split decision over Crystal Bolles, 138. 

November 2, 2002 – Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport, Louisiana
Stephanie Dobbs KO1 Angela Kirkes in a scheduled 105-lb. four-rounder. 

November 2, 2002 - Parma, Italy
Maria Moroni, defending her EBU European featherweight title,  won a 10-round unanimous decision over Nadia Debras. Final scoring by judges was 99-91 99-91 98-92. 

November 2, 2002 - Detroit, Michigan
Sumya "The Island Girl" Anani, 144, KO'd Lisa Holewyne, 144, 59 seconds in the fifth roundat the Palace in Auburn Hills, in Detroit, Michigan. WBAN's inside reporter said that Anani won the 1, 2, and 4 rounds, before stopping Holewyne in the fifth! The title fight was scheduled for ten rounds. Anani won the vacant IBA World Welterweight title.

November 1, 2002 - Varese, Italy
Stefania Bianchini won a bantamweight six-rounder by points over Marianna Pampuk.
