with the crowd standing throughout the bout. The bout was
all-action throughout the bout, and considered one of the best
fights on the card. Nathalie had been hit hard in the second and
third rounds, but stayed standing. She recovered, knowing she
was behind on points. Toro came back with her own artillery in the
later rounds, hitting her hard in 6, 7, 8 round. But at the end of
the ninth round, Toro got hit with a hard combination of a
left/right, and she fell to the canvas. The ref counted her to nine,

defeating Janae Archuleta, 140, of Denver, Colorado.
McConnell controlled the action with short quick hard jabs, while
Archuleta tried to land big shots to McConnell's body. Each time
Archuleta fired a shot to the ribs, McConnell came over the top and
most of the time she landed. By the end of the second round
Archuleta's eyes were beginning to swell as she was taking some
punishment. McConnell stepped up her pressure in the third, and
there was nowhere for Archuleta to run. When McConnell pinned her on
the ropes and began to land lefts and rights, the referee stepped in
to stop the fight. The official time was 55 seconds of the third

decision over Marcela Eliana Acuna, 124¾, for the WBC
vacant Featherweight title. Final judges scores were 96-94,
96-94, and 97-93. "I'm here to knock her out," says Acuña,
According to an interview in this morning's Olé, Marcela Acuña sees
herself 'virtually obliged' to win tonight's fight with Sharon Anyos
for the WBC Featherweight title by knockout: "Otherwise, you know
how it goes when you're fighting abroad: you think you're miles
ahead and get a nasty surprise at the end when they read the
scorecards." The Argentinian knows the 6,000-strong crowd will do
everything in its power to lift the local girl (whom Olé describes,
somewhat unkindly, as a ´Barbie doll´) but says that won't affect
her: "I hope she'll come out and attack me. That'll suit me just
fine. I'm here to knock her out. I want to get this over fast and go
home - taking the belt with me. I haven't seen my two children for
ages." Acuna DID not knock out Anyos, and Anyos is now

October 8, 2005 -
Harrah's, Laughlin, Nevada
In the outdoor Amphitheatre, on an all-women's card, in "A Ring
of Their Own" boxing event, in the first fight of the night,
Shadina Pennybaker, had an outright war with Daria Hill
of New Jersey, in six "tough" rounds of boxing. In what
could have been the best fight of the night (but as boxing fans
found out) all of the matches could have been classified as the best
fight of the night, Pennybaker won by a close unanimous decision.
Both fighters not only displayed great skill, but very good
sportsmanship. Final judges scores 57-55, 56-55, 56-55. The
second fight of the night was a six rounder between Jeannine
Garside, 130, of Windsor, Canada and Rita Valentini,
125, of Hollywood, California. The fight started out to be
even, but it did not take long for Garside to dominate the bout.
Garside won by a fifth round TKO, 1:25 seconds, Garside is a
stellar example, why women should try to learn their skills in the
amateurs before turning pro. She went to the body, throwing
effective combinations, and as the fight progressed she continued to
put more pressure on Valentini.
In the third match, they had a special feature with
Elena "Baby Doll" Reid fighting a four-round exhibition against
Carina Moreno. Reid and Moreno were both warming up for
their world title bouts. Reid is fighting Regina Halmich in a
rematch on December 3, 2005, in Germany (WIBF belt), and
Moreno will be fighting Siriporn in Thailand (WBC belt). In a
fourth match, Laura "Lady Ram" Ramsey, 164, of Florida,
fought Sweden's Asa Sandell, 165. In the first round,
WBAN had Sandell ahead, as she was throwing crisp jabs, and had an
obvious height advantage. In the second round, Sandell began to have
a nose bleed, and had an accidental slip this round. In the sixth
round, Ramsey knocked Sandell to the canvas, with her taking an
eight count. Ramsey won the fight by a six-round split decision.
In the main event, Wendy Rodriguez, 105, won an
eight-round unanimous decision over Yvonne Caples, 105.
The two mixed it up for eight rounds, with Rodriguez out-pointing
Caples. There were no knockdowns in the bout. Arnie
Rosenthal, and Ken Weiss, along with matchmaker Wanda Bruce put on
an excellent show, with great matchups.
October 8, 2005,
at the Silver Reef Casino, Ferndale, Washington
Tricia Turton, 148, now 5-0-0 (2KO), won an eight-round
majority decision over Lisa Holewyne, 150. The final
judges scores were 74-78, 75-77, and 76-76. The two were
fighting for the Pacific Northwest Boxing Federation Women’s Junior
Middleweight Title. An insider covering the bout, said that
the fight was pretty close, though Turton landed the harder and more
accurate shots.

decision over Darnella Barnes, 134, in Greensboro, NC.
Shea was originally scheduled to box Barnes on September 17 but
Barnes came in much too heavy at that time. Barnes came to
fight and showed tremendous strength as Shea dominated all the
rounds with an onslaught of punches. Barnes never gave up
under tremendous pressure in her professional debut.
Maureen Shea's record now stands at 3-0 with 2 wins coming by
KO. World class trainer Hector Roca was in Shea's corner
as she continues to progress. The card was promoted by
Cheryl Nance.

seconds, KO2 over Brenda Felter, 131.5. News

Apparently in round one, Carriere knocked Felter to the canvas with
only about 10 seconds to go in the round, but Felter managed to
weather the storm, and came out for the second round. When
Carrierre dropped her in the second round, she didn't get up.

2005 - La Carte Event Pavilion, Tampa Florida
StarFight Productions brought another night of exciting boxing to
the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. The main event
between the number one super featherweight in the world (WIBA and
IBA World Champion) Chevelle "Mo Baby" Hallback (24-4-1, 11
KOs, 1 ND), 135 lbs, and Melissa "Honey Girl" Del Valle
(29-5-1, 11 KOs, 1 ND), 137.5 lbs, ended in a no-contest. The bout
came to a sudden end at the start of the third round when an
accidental headbutt occurred. Hallback stepped in to throw a
combination, Del Valle stepped forward in what appeared to be an
effort to clinch/hold Hallback causing the forehead of Hallback and
the mouth of Del Valle to collide. Immediately after, blood could be
seen gushing out of the upper right lip of Del Valle. Referee Telis
Assimenios stepped in and called for time as the ringside doctor
inspected Del Valle's lip. Thereafter, he determined that there was
no way for Del Valle to continue and the match was thus ruled a no
decision. Del Valle's lip had a gash about an inch in length with
the skin and tissue frayed. Official time of stoppage was at the
0:11 mark of the third. This was the first time in Hallback's career
that she has fought in her hometown of Tampa. Next up for Hallback
will be on Rock & Sock Promotions all female pay-per-view November
18 from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Hallback is scheduled to defend
her WIBA world title against fellow Floridian Belinda Laracuente.
