Apparently Toughill fell through the ropes which WBAN was told were loose. We have also been told that this was actually a KO with Toughill so will have more on this bout as information comes in.  Photo galleries will be posted soon!

According to Brazilian sources, the fight, which was dominated by Yankovich, was stopped in the second round by referee Denis Sponton on account of the profusion of blood issuing from the nose of the Argentinian.(Sources: Sul Tatame, Na Luta, Ring de Ideas)  By Ewan Whyte  Logged in Master Search

August 25, 2006 - at the Aragon Ballroom, in Chicago, IL
Lightweight Rita Figueroa, 135, won a six-round unanimous decision over Leora Jackson, 135 ½.  Juan C. Ayllon of Cyberboxingzone.com, wrote the following: "Popular returning female boxer Rita “La Guerra” Figueroa (135 lbs., 8-0, 3 KO’s) soaked up some heavy leather early, and returned in kind—and then some—as she overcome the swarming tactics of Leora Jackson (135.5 lbs., 2-8) with superior boxing and conditioning. Figueroa dominated in the latter portions of the testy eight rounder. Rita Figueroa said afterwards, “She was a tough girl. I haven’t fought in a couple months, so it was good to get back in there. But, she was tough. I give her credit. She didn’t win, though!”  Logged in Master Search

Despite (in the view of Juan E. Brignone of www.boxeo.org) dominating the fight from beginning to end and never abandoning the hunt for a T(KO), Marcela "La Tigresa" Acuña, 121½,  of Argentina was unable either to break the spirit or to find the jaw of the young Colombian Anays "The Lady of the Ring" Gutiérrez Carillo, 122, when the two met in the early hours of the morning for the right to be the first to wear the WBA super bantamweight belt. The judges, two of whom were Argentinian, nonetheless awarded victory to the local girl (100-90 on all three cards), opening the door to a unification fight with the WBC champion in the same division, Alejandra Oliveras.  Story by Ewan Whyte Logged in Master Search

August 11, 2006 - Mountaineer Race Track, in Chester, West Virginia,  on an ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights" card
Featherweights Leslee Perella, won a four-round unanimous decision over   Melinda Woody. Final judges scores were 39-37, 39-37, and 39-36. Report by LongJab: Quite often, when a local fighter wins a match by unanimous decision, it is deemed a ‘hometown’ decision; however, tonight was not one of those times at Mountaineer Gaming and Resort Center, when local favorite Leslee ‘Longplay’ Perella won a well-earned unanimous decision, over 4 rounds, when she consistently landed a well-placed right hand on the visage or ‘kisser’ of a game Melinda Woody, from Cleveland, Tennessee. Although Woody claimed afterwards that she was never hurt during the match, she graciously admitted Perella definitely has a good right hand; and, at times during the match, it was apparent that Perella was landing it often, as Woody’s swollen face and bloody nose did attest. At one point, during the third round, the referee halted the action and Woody was given a standing-eight count, much to her dismay. Logged in Master Search

August 5, 2006 - Super Domo Orfeo, Córdoba (Argentina)
UBC bantamweight champion Carolina "Chapita" Gutiérrez, 121,  of Argentina stopped Liliane Balles de Silva, 117,  of Brazil in the second round, when the two met on the undercard of the Narváez-Flores world title fight in the Orfeo Superdomo in Córdoba (Argentina). Early indications are of a turkey shoot, with reporters dismissing the efforts of the visitor (who arrived alone, apparently, and hadn't fought for two years) as 'chaotic' and 'feeble', whilst lavishing epithets like 'tremendous' and 'charismatic' on the local girl. According to Yahoo/DyN, Balles had already visited the canvas once before Gutiérrez delivered the decisive combination.

Kenya's Conjestina Achieng, the reigning WBF Women's Middleweight champion won a uninanimous points fight against Uganda's Florence Nalukwago in a Timebomb Promotions card at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.  For the third time in a row, Conjestina failed to make good her now famous threat " Come Early coz I'll finish early" when she had to slug it out for the whole six rounds against the heftily built Ugandan. Conjestina knick named "Hands Of Stone" who has a reputation for knocking out her opponents inside the distance  has failed to stop three opponents in a row, Monalisa Sibanda of Zimbabwe in February, Yvonne Reis in April and now the Ugandan Boxer.
