Anita Christensen, 121, of Denmark, defeated Jessica Mohs,
121, of the United States, by a six-round unanimous decision,
in a typical boxer vs. slugger fight in Copenhagen tonight. The non
title fight was scheduled to 6 rounds, and the judges all agreed on
60-54 in favour of the Danish WBA, WBC & GBU World Champion. Jessica
Mohs was a very plucky opponent, who kept coming forward through all
six rounds, despite being punished by crisp counter punching by
Christensen throughout the fight. Occasionally Mohs managed to drag
Christensen into fighting inside, which did make her [Christensen]
lose momentum and style. After being reprimanded between rounds by
her trainer Kjeld Krogh, Christensen went back to what she does
best, scoring with her left jab and crossing Mohs as she came
forward. Christensen showed very good technical boxing, piling up
points and her excellent footwork and speed prevented Mohs to get
through with much. Mohs was assisted by Stephanie Dobbs in
her corner. Dobbs is becoming quite a familiar face in Europe, but
on the previous visits she was wearing the gloves herself. She has
fought in Germany, Hungary, Ukraine and also boxed Anita Christensen
in Denmark 3 years ago. Source: Torben L. - WBAN's Correspondent in

Merced Nunez quickly dismantled
Danielle Lanford. Nunez, whose only loss is to Melissa
Hernandez, is a hard hitting junior lightweight who since that loss
has been much more aggressive than her opponents.
Before Lanford to reach the middle of the ring to answer the opening
bell, Nunez had landed a left jab and was loading her right. Lanford
tried to step back, but Nunez would have none of that as she stayed
within arm's length, popping Lanford's head back time after time.
The fight looked to be over less than a minute in to the round, when
Nunez pinned Lanford on the ropes and landed lefts and rights to
Lanford's chin. Lanford somehow snuck away from the barrage, but
only momentarily. Nunez caught up with Lanford on the far side of the
ring and after a few teeth jarring punches, Lanford realized there
would be no escape. She tried though. When Lanford covered her head,
Nunez threw punches to the body, and then Lanford dropped her elbows
and Nunez saw the target on the chin again. As the seconds
ticked down to end the opening round, Lanford's cornermen were
desperately waving a towel, asking that the carnage end. It did, at
1:59. Now Nunez finds herself in that position where, after two KO
wins, she may not get the 'easy' opponent. However, if she continues
to improve, it may not matter.

Sandy Tsagoris won a six-round unanimous decision over Olga
Heron. Story: In April 2004, Sandy Tsagouris
walked away with a unanimous decision victory over Olga Heron.
Tsagouris soundly defeated Heron and both women went on their
separate ways. However, within the last year Heron had her new mini
van painted. Most would say “well big deal, who cares!” What makes
this new paint job so significant is that the new paint scheme
featured an unflattering photo of Tsagouris. In the picture
Heron is landing a huge punch to Tsagouris’s face which distorts it.
The two boxers live in neighbouring suburbs of the Greater Toronto
Area thus it wasn’t long before Tsagouris found out about her photo
being on the side of Heron’s van. Tsagouris was not too pleased and
vowed to knock Heron out if the two were to ever meet again. Last
night Tsagouris was given her chance to exact her revenge on Heron
as the two met in a six round matchup at the Powerade Centre in
Brampton Ontario, Canada put on by Stele promotion. This match was
one of the most exciting and vocal matches of the evening due to the
grudge between the two fighters.

Taskova, who has a lot of experience, but very few wins, in the
pro game. Taskova has a very awkward boxing style
and despite a clear deficit in both boxing skills and reach, she
managed to take the three times Amateur World Champion through the
full eight rounds. Galassi's victory was never in doubt, winning all
eight rounds convincingly----but she made things more difficult than
necessary by letting herself be dragged into inside, instead of
using her reach advantage. Galassi won by a unanimous
