In front of 3,453 boxing fans, at the American Metal & Iron Fight
Night at the Tank, there will be two women’s bouts on the undercard.
In one bout, junior welterweight Chika Nakamura, 137, won a
six-round bout by unanimous decision over Tiffany Junot, 136
¼. In the second bout, flyweight Melissa McMorrow,
106, won a unanimous decision in a four-rounder over pro debuter
Gloria Salas, 103 ¾. An interesting quote from the Examiner.com,
from this fight card said, “The main event was overshadowed by the
two women’s matches on the seven-bout card. Although Junot landed
impressive combinations in every round and won two of them, Nakamura
was the sharper puncher, was busier and carried the fight. In the
opener, McMorrow’s left hooks were the difference as Salas retained
her polish admirably throughout the fight.”

16, 2008 - Ulm, Germany
(Rayong-Gym Heidenheim/Germany) presented the Dodge Trophy Final
2008, a top class Thai boxing gala. The event took place in a
shopping centre in Ulm, Germany. As already in last year’s event,
along with the Thai Boxers, two professional female boxers
competed. Lightweight Rola El Halabi (6-0-0, KOs 3)
faced the experienced kickboxer Eva Santa Halasi from Serbia,
who made her professional debut as a boxer. El Halabi, clearly the
better boxer, dominated the fight but had problems to find the
distance and missed a couple of times and hit the air. In the fifth
round, El Halabi landed a crushing right hook and Halasi was
brutally knocked out. She remained unconscious on the canvas for
long, worrying minutes until she managed to get up again.
The second fight of the evening featured Özlem “Sugar” Sahin
and Janina Bentz (0-1-0). Light flyweight Sahin (6-0-0, KOs
3), who is actually a minimum weight, fought her first six round
match and went the full distance. Sahin dominated the middle of the
ring but her opponent was tireless and attacked her time and again.
Although several times in round two and three it seemed that her
legs were about to give way Bentz persevered. Sahin again showed an
impressive performance and the fight was clearly decided in her
favour. But since no delegate of the German boxing association was
present, the match was ruled a non-contest. Besides, Bentz was 7.83
pounds over the limit. [Logged into master search]November 15,

middleweight belt last night after outpointing Nayeli Vásquez
of Tijuana over 8 rounds (79-75½, 79-75, 79-74) in the Villa
Olímpica, Desamparados. The fight began quietly with both women
feeling their way but burst into life in the fourth round when
Gabriel dropped the visitor with a jab followed by a straight right
to the face. In the seventh and eighth rounds, the crowd was on its
feet as the local girl went all out for the KO, but the Mexican
proved at the tender age of eighteen to be a tough fighter who
refused to lie down and even had Gabriel in difficulties on more
than one occasion. [Logged into

2008 - Siam Park, Tenerife (Spain)
Angel McKenzie fought Leticia Candal in an eight round bout.
(translated report) The most keenly anticipated boxing match of the
evening was the one that pitted Leticia Candal against Angel
McKenzie of Great Britain. The pair were disputing the Sergio
Fernández Torres trophy, in memory of the late lamented president of
the Federación Canaria de Boxeo. It was a hotly disputed contest in
which the Brazilian based in Arona moved very intelligently to avoid
the heavy punching of the southpaw McKenzie. Their contrasting
styles made for a great fight in which Leticia's speed and mobility
trumped the non-stop attack of the British woman. Although McKenzie
lost by a wide margin on the scorecards, she nonetheless received a
warm ovation. Leticia Candel demonstrated that she is ready now to
dispute serious titles. Source: Thai Sport CanariasNovember 8, 2008 - Tennis Center, Bad Ragaz,

November 1, 2008 - Seven Feathers
Casino Resort, Canyonville, Oregon
Portland, Oregon’s Molly McConnell (9-1 1NC 4KOs 147 lbs.)
preserved her status as one of the Pacific Northwest’s best fighters
with a six round unanimous decision over Los Angeles, California’s
Demi Nguyen (4-3 2KOs 146 lbs.) this past Saturday, November
1st at the Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville, Oregon.
While McConnell controlled most of the bout, her opponent was a
tough one and made the victory a hard one to get. Early on in the
bout Nguyen did a good job of pushing McConnell back with effective
left-right combinations. The hand speed and early aggression of
Nguyen appeared to give McConnell problems in the first two rounds.
By the third round, though, McConnell began to take control,
countering well with left hooks and pushing Nguyen back with hard
right hands. As the fight wore on McConnell continued to step up her
aggression, while Nguyen slowed down. As McConnell pressed with lead
rights and hard combinations on the inside, Nguyen tried to answer
back as much as she could, but she found it hard to keep up with
McConnell’s busy work rate. All three judges saw the fight in
favor of McConnell by scores of 60-54, 58-54, and 58-54. [Logged into
