local favourite Kara McLeod (1-0) took
on Toronto’s Priscilla Trompowski (1-1) in a four round contest.
This was by far the most exciting match on the card as both women
went to war from the opening bell. Throughout the match McLeod was
able to the land the cleaner and more effective combinations.
She used her jab well and was able to land effective body
punches. However, Trompowski did apply tremendous amounts of
pressure on McLeod and was able to land one or two great punches
but overall was unable to match McLeod’s speed and precision. After the four rounds the judges
saw the bout 39-37, 39-37 and 38-38 awarding McLeod the majority
decision victory. With the win McLeod moves to 2-0 while
Trompowski drops to 1-2.

after four rounds of boxing that ebbed and flowed in each fighters
favor throughout the four round slugfest. Gladney controlled the
fight in the early rounds by backing the national boxing champion
Hernandez against the ropes and unloading with thunderous right
hands and looping left hooks that kept the taller boxer on the
defense. Hernandez understood early that she couldn’t stand toe to
toe with Gladney. She used her height and long arms to keep Gladney
at Bay and fought hard enough down the stretch to eek out a draw.

suited her. Menzer was obviously not interested in a toe-to-toe
battle and used her foot work to get out of harms way, as soon as
she had thrown her jabs and combinations. Final judges scores were
100-90 on all cards. n a post fight interview, Alcanter told the press, "After almost a year's lay off, I am
