NOVEMBER 2010

November 27, 2010 - Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki, Finland
Super featherweight Eva Wahlstrom, 132, of Helsinki, now 4-0-0 (2KO), won a six-round unanimous decision over Nacera Baghdad, now 1-2-0, of France. Socres: 54-60, 55-59, 54-60.

November 27, 2010-  Sweden
Frida Wallberg
fought Olivia Gerula in an eight rounder---but it was for a WBC Title...Fans are mystified why they did not fight 10 round for the title belt. Final judges scores were 77-75, 78-75, 78-75, with Wallberg winning by unanimous decision. WBAN spoke to Gerula after her fight.   First she clarified why the fight was eight rounds. She told WBAN, " The Sweden boxing commission would not allow a 10 round fight. The WBC and myself agreed to the eight rounds with a rematch clause set for 10. This was a historical event as there has not been an 8 round boxing fight in Sweden since 1967." Gerula went on to say about the fight.... "I can not begin to describe my disappointment on the outcome of this fight. I might as well have Fed- X my title here and saved us all the trip! I do agree that the fight could have been close. I fought hard enough and well enough that I won this fight. I would have been up in arms with a draw and when they announced a unanimous decision I was grinning from ear to ear ready to raise my arm but then they announced Freda as the winner...total shock...even for her camp. So this is boxing? The sport I love? I am told the fight was close. When does a challenger win a champions title for being close? Devastating. I believe I have just played a part in a much bigger picture and now the WBC will again make progressive history with the 10 round rematch clause that was put into contract. And it is my only conciliation that when the rematch takes place this decision will be put to rights!"

Last night in France, and televised on Eurosport 1, Lamare defended her WBF Light Welterweight title against Lucia Morelli, when the referee stopped the fight 57 seconds into the 6th round. Lucia Morelli was still on her feet and protested fiercely against the stoppage, but she had been on the receiving end of a series of heavy punches, which made the referee's decision justifiable.
