Darby, 21, 5’9", 200, a hometowner, fought Michelle
"The Pitbull" Cooley, 31, 5’7", 225, King of
Prussia. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Darby clearly

Elena "Baby Doll" Reid, 119, won by a six-round
unanimous decision over Terri Cruz, 123. Reid improves to
11-2-1 (4KO), and Cruz is now 5-3-2 (3KO). Dale Hauser of Ring Sport
wrote, "On the undercard of
the Rey Beltran vs Carlos Diaz fight, on October 1st, Elena
"Baby Doll" Reid fought Terry "Lil' Loca" Cruz
in a six round contest. Crowd favorite Reid, 119 pounds, swept the
first four rounds with hard shots and a wicked jab. Cruz, 123
pounds, came on in the end and took the last two rounds and the
fight had the crowd on it's feet for most of the fight. All three
judges were in agreement on the outcome and scored the fight 58-56
for Reid. Reid is an Arizona native and Cruz is from Denver
Colorado. Elena is rated # 1 in the world at all three organizations
at 115 pounds. She had been spotted training at Knockout Boxing Gym
in Phoenix before the fight but usually trains in Las Vegas. (Report

With an attendance of 1,450, Jennifer Alcorn, 131.5, stepped up the
competition with last-minute opponent Cheryl Nance, 133.5, of
North Carolina. The two battled it out, until the fifth round of a
scheduled six-round non-title fight, when Alcorn finished off the
job and stopped Nance after knocking her to the canvass. Nance
was stopped at :57 seconds in that round. Alcorn, the current
WIBF lighweight champion, took the last-minute fight with Nance,
after her long-scheduled opponent, Imelda Arias, was
pregnant. Alcorn improved her record to 14-0-0 (10KO).
Nance is now 6-8-0 (6KO). Full

Welterweight champion, West Palm Beach, Karla Redo won an
unanimous decision over Cynthia Jones, Miami. Final Scoring
by judges was 40-36, 39-37 and 39-37. Redo improves her record to
8-1-0, and Jones is 0-2.

Julie Crockett TKO3 1:44 seconds Lisa Lovell.
The opening bout of the evening was a
junior welterweight contest featuring Julie Crockett, 139, from
Los Angeles, CA versus Lisa Lovelle, 138 1/4, out of Las Vegas, NV. It
was clear from the outset who was the stronger of the two as
Crockett immediately rocked Lovell with combinations to the head.
Much to Lovell's credit she kept coming forward only to be greeted
with more punishment. Crockett showed patience in her attack and
knew it was just a matter of time before she took out Lovell in
round three. Crockett improves to 3-0, 2 KO's while Lovell falls to

At the Radisson Astrodome Hotel, in Houston, Texas, Ann Wolfe
stopped overmatched Genevia Buckhalter in the second round.
Wolfe improved her record to 13-1-0 (10KO). Buckhalter fell to
2-11-1 (2KO). Also, Gracie Olivares won a four-round unanimous
decision over Isabel Manysing.

Shakura Witherspoon makes it to a even "30"----that is
thirty losses as a professional boxer.... Witherspoon fought a much
less experienced boxer, Lisa Lewis, who according to news
sources dominated the fight, when Shakura basically covered up and
avoided Lewis most of the fight. Lewis told the Fresno Bee, "I
couldn't believe it, I thought, why in the hell is she in the ring
if all she is going to do is cover up?' " Lewis won the fight
with a unanimous decision bringing her record to 4-6-0. Witherspoon
dropped to 9-30-1.

over Carley Pesente, 214. Salazar used her powerful
right hand to keep Pesente off balance for most of the fight and

used a defensive posture for much of the fight and could not
overcome Salazars power. All judges scorecards were 40-36.
Salazar is now 3-0-0, and Pesente is 3-4-1.

Terry Moss won a split decision over Nina Ahlin. Fight

After
a fairly even opening round, Moss rocked Ahlin with a big overhand right
in the second, which she used to peppered Ahlin's face well into the
following round. Although Ahlin staged a late third-round rally, she was
unable to get on track and close the show on a visibly tiring Moss. The
final score cards were 38-39 and 37-39 for Moss, and 40-36 for Ahlin.
Ahlin drops to 7-3-1 while Moss notches her first ring victory, going to
1-3-0. The match was part of the Rumble at the Roxy 2 fight card promoted
by David Oblas' Undisputed Productions LLC held at this popular Buckhead
venue, with an attendance of 500.

Sarka Stoklaskova defeated Tammy "The Fox" Baker,
who was making her pro debut in a unanimous decision.
According to news sources, Baker put up a brave fight, but it was
obvious, that she needs boxing skills and experience. Apparently her
opponent had some amateur fights to her name, and that showed. The
fight was not scheduled to be shown at the live broadcast from the
show, but due to some early stoppages, the TV company showed the 3
last round, which they had taped earlier.

Mann, 148. Holm dominated the four rounds knocking Mann down

decision over Dawn Reynolds, 117. BILV Mary Ann Owen
who covered the fight ringside said that it was a "great"
fight, and the crowd went "crazy" over these two going toe
to toe.

Featherweights Danielle Bouchard, who was making her pro
debut, made a short night of her first professional fight when she

1, 2002 (Amateurs) Ringside National Labor Day
Championships
The Ringside Tournament (Aug 28-Sept 1) is the largest
gathering of amateur boxers in the world. This year over 1000 boxers
went to Kansas City, Missouri to take part in the best event in
Amateur Boxing. Molly McConnell with back to back tournament
victories first the National Golden Gloves and Now the Ringside
Tournament. Molly McConnell won the Gold Thursday August 29th Molly
stopped Tawanna Martin from Rapid City, South Dakota in the first
round. Saturday August 31st Molly won a unanimous decision over
Belinda Olivares of San Antonio, Texas Sunday September 1st Molly
won on a first round stoppage of Amber Claussen of Pierce, Nebraska.
(Amber stepped into the finals with a 28-3 record) Molly's next stop
is the National PAL in Augusta, Georgia. Another boxer,
Vanessa Juarez boxed 2 times and won the Championships in
the Intermediate 112 Female Division.
