(JAN 19) Hondi Hernandez (5-1 3KO) of
Chandler, Arizona will face Merced Nunez (5-1 2KO) of Philomath,
Oregon, in a four round bout tonight at the Emerald Queen Casino in
Tacoma, Washington. Both women weighed in at the contract weight of
125 pounds. Hernandez, coming off a unanimous decision loss, is
fighting outside of Arizona for the first time in her professional
career. She last fought in June of ’07, losing to Elizabeth
Villarreal.
Nunez, who has not lost since her pro
debut, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Clara De La Torre
in November of ’07. The knockouts have come in the opening rounds
for both fighters, but that type of result would appear unlikely
tonight, as these two appear to bring evenly matched boxing skills
to the ring.
