(DEC 30) In 2013, it has been an
amazing year for WBAN. I went on the road quite a bit to
covered amateur and pro boxing shows, and got an opportunity to
meet many of you, that previously, I had only spoken to by
either phone, text message, Facebook, and emails. I
met up with more boxing folks in the year 2013, than I have any
other year.
In the year 2014 WBAN is going to have major changes for the
good of the sport.
#1: WBAN RECORDS MEMBERS SITE BECOMES PUBLIC!
First off, we are going to go public with the WBAN Records
Member site. The site is a fantastic resource for the
world and we are going to unlock that great source of
information.
#2: MASTER SEARCH WILL ALSO LINK HUGE GALLERIES
Secondly, we have already began having our MASTER SEARCH public
as of December 27th. What you will see with WBAN's
worldwide boxing records that no other website have is that if
there are any video, flash slideshows or photo galleries
attached to that fighter, it will be linked to their record.
That will be shown to be added soon to the Master Search.
#3: WBAN HALL OF FAME
Thirdly, WBAN is having a WBAN Hall of Fame!
A judging committee will be established to consider and approve
nominations for induction into the WBAN Hall of Fame. To be
accepted, nominees must be retired female boxers, and/or male or
females who have played a significant role in the sport that
have contributed to the sport.
The WBAN Hall of Fame will contain a pictorial history
of each person and various sporting memorabilia that we have
available to display on the net.
WBAN VIRTUAL HALL
OF FAME
#4: NEW WBAN WEBSITE
WITH FEATURING AN INTERACTIVE HISTORICAL DATABASE ON WOMENS
BOXING TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!
WBAN will be announcing very soon a project that WBAN has been
working on for some time. I was writing about the history
of the sport, and after thinking of the best way to present the
history, since it seems that even when I thought I had it
right---something would show up, just to make me see I actually
did not have it right. I have discovered
throughout the years that the history of the sport continues to
change as we learn more about what happened in the past which at
times can be quite hidden.
Due to what I have seen
throughout the 17 years of researching the history of women's
boxing and writing a book at the time about the history---I made
a decision to actually go virtual with my book and all the
research I have done on the sport in the last 17 years.
This has been one of the most
exciting projects I have been involved in and created and I look
forward to introducing that site soon. The world wide
audience can view it, send in updates to correct it, when it may
not be accurate and it will be the very largest website in the
world that features historical events in women's boxing.
#5: WBAN ON THE ROAD IN
2014
Lastly, I am very happy to
announce that I will be taking three to four major road
trips to meet up with boxers in gyms, go to local amateur and
pro events, and meet up with many of you while we go on these
planned two-week trips to hit as many places as possible.
We will be contacting gyms, or they can contact us and let us
know about the female boxers in their gyms, and we will see if
we can plan a visit to that gym, or special event.
