(APR 29) The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) is
sending a very strong team to the forthcoming EUBC Junior
European Boxing Championships, being held in Romania late May.
The tournament opens in Galati, on May 22.at the 7,000 seater
Patinoarul Galati Arena. As Wikipedia tells us : “Galați is the
capital city of Galați County, in the historical region of
Moldavia, eastern Romania. Galați is a port town on the Danube
River.” In 2011, the Romanian census recorded 249,432 residents,
making it the 8th most populous city in Romania but by 2017
Eurostat shows that had increased to 514,429.

Zealand champion Alrie Meleisea will be making her return to the
ring after a 19 months hiatus. Former UBF Asia Pacific & NZPBA
Heavyweight champion Alrie Meleisea (4 - 0 - 0) will be returning to
the boxing ring on June 15th at ABA Stadium in Auckland New Zealand.
She will be going up against former New Zealand title challenger
Ashley Campbell. This will be her first fight since her last New

at the McBride Hall, in Gary, Indiana, Mary "Merciless" McGee, of
Gary, now 25-3-0 (13KO), won a six-round unanimous decision

Final judges scores were 60-54. This was McGee's first fight in
