Elena Sabitova passes away

(FEB 20) It has been reported in news sources that Russian amateur boxing champion Elena Sabítova, 28 years old, passed away on Tuesday after lying in a coma for three days. There were no details as to why Sabitova was in a coma.   She was married to world kick-boxing champion Anatoli Nósirev with whom she had a daughter, the couple's only child, last year.  Full Story

Velez Sentenced 21 Months

(FEB 15) This week, it was reported in the Sun Sentinel that Ada “The Ace” Velez was sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to grand theft. According to this news source, Velez was arrested for giving away more than $100,000 worth of free play vouchers at the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino, where she was a casino service representative, between March and August of 2006.  Full Story
