(JAN 28) WBAN has video-streamed the 10-round WIBA World title bout, between Holly Holm vs. Myriam Lamare that took place on Friday, January 23, 2009, at the Isleta Casino & Resort, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The video is on the WBAN Records members site.  Lucia Rijker trained Lamare while Lamare was in the United States for about three weeks, she was in New Mexico, and working the corner of Lamare.  More

Two Women’s Bouts on Uruguay Card
January 25, 2009

(JAN 25) On Friday night, at the Hotel Conrad, in Maldonado, Uruguay, there were two women’s bouts on the card. In one bout, Chris Namus, 137¾, won a six-round unanimous decision over Maria Elena Maderna, 137¾. The final judges scores were 60-56, 60-55, and 60-55.  Full Story

Gerula to fight Raika in Japan

McGee to fight Mohs

(JAN 15) WBAN received a press release yesterday, with news that Mary McGee, 15-0 (9KO), will be fighting Jessica Mohs,  on January 23, 2009, at the Radisson Hotel, at the Star Plaza, in Merrillville, Indiana.  McGee's last fight was on August 3, 2008, while Mohs last fought on September 11th, 2008, but both feel that this fight is shaping up to be a card-stealer.  Full Story

Salandy Dies in Traffic Accident

(JAN 4) WBAN has just learned that multi-world champion 21-year old Giselle Salandy, of Trinidad and Tobago, died this morning, after she was involved in a vehicle accident on Beetham Highway (located on the outskirts of Port of Spain.
