(DEC 25) Today (Dec. 25th) in the time zone of Japan, at the Kyuden gymnasium, in Fukuoka, Japan, in a female title bout, Yuko Kuroki, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Thailand's Amara Kokietgym.  The two were fighting an "eliminator" for the WBC Atomweight title.

(DEC 16) Tonight at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, in Las Vegas, Nevada, there will be one female bout on the card, featuring Laura Serrano vs. Ela Nunez.  Yesterday at the weigh-in, Serrano weighed in at 122.5, and Nunez was 126.  There are also several men's bouts on the card.

(DEC 8) On Friday night, in Atlanta, Georgia, Kerri "The Rage" Hill, defeated Jackie Breitenstein with a four-round majority decision. The final judges scores were 40-36, 40-36, and 38-38. Hill has remained very active this year, fighting on six cards.

Will the WBC Step Up?

(DEC 6) In early August, the president of the World Boxing Council, Jose Sulaiman announced, at a press conference, that he would propose to his governing board that female boxers, defending WBC titles, be paid thirty-thousand dollars, while the challenger would be guaranteed eight-thousand dollars. He would seek the approval of the WBC board at the organization's annual convention in Las Vegas, which will convene in the middle of this month. Sulaiman noted, at the press conference, that he "didn't expect to make many friends" with his proposal, but he emphasized that female boxers are "all underpaid (and) I don't think it's fair." (DEC 5)  I started training in 1999 (two years after obtaining my Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin) and competed in boxing between 2000 and 2005. During this time, I won the San Antonio golden gloves three times, won 2 silver medals (one at USA Nationals, one at Pal Nationals), and 2 bronze medals (USA Nationals). Boxing Seminar in North Carolina

(DEC 5) On Saturday,  December 10th, retired WIBA/WIBF boxing champion Terri “The Boss” Moss returns to Dick Harrell Martial Arts in Charlotte, NC for a boxing seminar from 1 to 5 PM. The seminar will offer offers basic boxing fundamentals, defense techniques, full contact and boxing fitness. “I'm looking forward to going back to work with Dick's fighters and fitness clients.
