(SEPT 21) The middleweight women’s bout at the Silver Reef Casino in Ferndale, Washington on Saturday night was neither the main event nor the semi main, but it did create a lot of excitement in the crowd. Maricelo Carnejo, from Grandview, Washington had a large contingent of vocal fans, and she was on the cover of the Boxing Illustrated fight program. Tiffany Ward, Cornejo’s opponent out of Los Angeles seemed an afterthought, after all, this was her pro debut and Cornejo had already dispensed of her previous two opponents. (SEPT 10) WBAN just posted the Full Fight Video of the Debora "La Gurisa" Dionicius, of Villaguay, Argentina vs.Olga Julio that took place on Saturday in Argentina.  Dionicius and Olga were fighting for the IBF Super Flyweight Title. Dionicius won the title by a ten-round unanimous decision.

(SEPT 8) Patrick Nielsen (20-0, 9 KOs) defended his WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Title and added the WBO Intercontinental belt to his collection by defeating Patrick Majewski (21-2, 13 KOs) in Frederikshavn, Denmark on Saturday night. The 22-year-old knocked down the “Machine” in the fifth with a left to the chin. The judges scored the fight 119-108, 119-108 and 118-109. “This was the best performance of Patrick´s young career,” promoter Nisse Sauerland said. “He dominated Majewski and showed his superior boxing skills.  (SEPT 8) Last night at the Estadio Luna Park, Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina, Debora "La Gurisa" Dionicius, of Villaguay, Argentina,  won a 10-round unanimous decision, now 14-0-0 (4KO), over Olga Julio, now 15-15-1 (10KO), of Barranquilla, Colombia. The two were fighting for the IBF Super Flyweight Title.

(SEPT 7)  We have a very important issue that not only affects the sport of women’s boxing at this time, but it directly affects the elite amateur female boxers.   WBAN believes that the issue is crucial in the development of the sport.
In the boxing segment at the Olympics they currently have 286 boxing slots of which but 36 at London 2012 were females in three weight divisions whereas males have ten weight classes, in other words 250 male boxers and 36 females. Equality?  Full Story

(SEPT 6) USA Boxing is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of 2013 USA Boxing Youth National Champion Alexis Urbina (Phoenix, Ariz.) on Wednesday. The thoughts of prayers of the entire boxing community are with Alexis’ family and friends at this difficult time,” said USA Boxing Executive Director Anthony Bartkowski. “Alexis was a special young man and a talented boxer with an incredibly bright future both in and out of the boxing ring. (SEPT 6) The second day of the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Convention began early with a trip to the world famous Karlsberg Brewery in Homburg, which hosted the day’s proceedings. At first, Ingo Barrabas, a renowned referee and judge as well as a member of the WBF Championship Committee, held the ring officials seminar, which dealt with the preparation officials are expected to undergo and their conduct requested prior to a championship fight. Barrabas also addressed the pressure exerted upon boxing officials and gave valuable tips on how to deal with it..Full Story

The 18-year-old flew into Copenhagen Airport on Tuesday night.
